I have a 3rd party library compiled with gcc6 that I need to link against. So I've un-installed the standard GCC packages and installed the Software Collections devtoolset-6 package (Centos 7.4)

However I am getting lots of link errors similar to this:
libcomsd.so: undefined reference to `operator delete[](void*, unsigned long)@CXXABI_1.3.9'
This appears to be because the devtoolset doesn't come with a version of libstd++ compiled with the new compiler, so linker is finding the standard one in /usr/lib64 which is compiled with gcc4, and thus not binary compatible with libcomsd which is compiled with gcc6.
Is there a way I can make all this work? Some package of libstd++ compiled with gcc6?
