jQuery File Upload - how to send a $_POST[""] variable to UploadHandler.php

I am using "jquery file upload" script. When a photo is uploaded, this script works with "UploadHandler.php". My question is, how can I send a post/get variable to UploadHandler.php?

Here is my index.php code:

There are 3 best solutions below

The file server/php/index.php gets the variable and from there you can pass it to the UploadHandler.php class.

Or you can use it directly from the UploadHandler.php file but remember that you have to take it as a global variable.

The solution for this which is worked for me,

in the index.php

<?php
session_start();
$_SESSION['passData'] = 'Data';

in the Uploadhandler.php

$passData = $_SESSION['passData'] ;

This is how I ended up doing it in CodeIgniter, iir you can do the same with require():

$params = array("id" => $id, "type" => $type);
$this->load->library('UploadHandler.php', $params);

Kevin B's link to the documentation may provide a better means of accomplishing this though.
