Unable to deploy Laravel Websockets in AWS Elastic Beanstalk

I have a small Laravel app that is deployed on AWS elastic beanstalk. My front-end connects with my backend using Laravel WebSocket by the BeyondCode lib.

I've tested everything in localhost and everything is working fine but not for Elastic Beanstalk deployment.

both my local and server are using APP_MODE=local and APP_DEBUG=True so that I can test everything using the Laravel WebSocket Admin.

I'm using command: 'nohup php artisan websocket:serve > websocket.out 2> websocket.err < /dev/null &' to server websocket.

From the load balancer configuration, I've added a new process named WebSocket which is using port 6001 and I've added a listener at port 6001.

Now, when I visit the admin/websocket page and click connect it gives me a console error

pusher.min.js:8 WebSocket connection to 'ws://backend.example.com:6001/app/wskey?protocol=7&client=js&version=4.3.1&flash=false' failed: Error during WebSocket handshake: Unexpected response code: 502

I've tried to find a solution from the library docs but they don't have much on deployment let alone Elastic Beanstalk.

I'm not sure what I'm missing and pulling my hair off. Any help is really appreciated.

NB: I don't know where to check websocket.out or websocket.err file. :\
