I just tried to use the event OnHeaderDblClick of the VirtualStringTree Component (Version 4.8.7) Is it possible, that this event is not working?
Or is there some option that I need to set to get it to work?

You're right, it cannot work. Mike forgot to call the
TBaseVirtualTree.DoHeaderDblClickwhat fires theOnHeaderDblClickin VirtualTreeView version 4.8.7.It is fixed in VirtualTreeView version 5.0.0 as ain mentioned in
TVirtualTreeColumns.HandleClickmethod.
