Gradle Error: Could not resolve androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.0.0

190 Views Asked by At

I'm encountering an issue in my Flutter project with Gradle while trying to resolve the androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.3.0 dependency. The error message states:

Could not determine the dependencies of task ':app:compileDebugJavaWithJavac'.
> Could not resolve all task dependencies for configuration ':app:debugCompileClasspath'.
   > Could not resolve androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.3.0.
     Required by:
         project :app

I have added the line,

  module:
    androidX: true # Add this line.

as suggested by this page, but it didn't resolve the issue.

I hvae tried solutions suggested in this question, its comments and in the answer. None helped.

please suggest a resolution, thank you for attending this.

Edit: here is my android\build.gradle

buildscript {
    ext.kotlin_version = '1.3.50'
    repositories {
        google()
        mavenCentral()
    }

    dependencies {
        classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.5.0'
        classpath "org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-gradle-plugin:$kotlin_version"
    }
}

allprojects {
    repositories {
        google()
        mavenCentral()
    }
}

rootProject.buildDir = '../build'
subprojects {
    project.buildDir = "${rootProject.buildDir}/${project.name}"
}
subprojects {
    project.evaluationDependsOn(':app')
}

tasks.register("clean", Delete) {
    delete rootProject.buildDir
}

and here is the android\app\build.gradle

def flutterRoot = localProperties.getProperty('flutter.sdk')

Maybe updating gradle can help.

android/gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.properties:

distributionUrl=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-7.4-all.zip

android/build.gradle:

classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:7.1.2'
