Migrating Java Rest Services from JDK 8 to 17

Question

Converting an Java Web Service from JDK 8 to 17.

I started to convert the javax to jakarta. I got my project to compile. But I get this error when I run my unit test:

Not sure what it is. I stared to think it was some type of dependency issue between packages.

I'm using Intellij dependency analyzer

I looked at the other posts on stackoveflow and I tried everything their suggestions with no luck. The method is there when I debug. So not sure why its complaining.

Any ideas what the issue might be?

Updated: So the error is coming from this package soapui.5.4.0. I see that it still uses javax in there:

This is the method that it complains about. soap ui javax.activation

How come I don't see an updated version of soapui in maven? I don't see 5.7.1

You need to use the same/similar versions of jakarta.activation and jakarta.mail dependencies. I think the problem is because you use different major versions of those 2 libraries.

As an extra note, i hope its clear to you which dependencies you really need and how transient dependencies resolve. Cause i see for example that you reference jakarta.mail in 3 different places.

ava.lang.NoSuchMethodError means there is no such method , this is because you may changed the version, in that updated version the method may be removed . We cannot be sure on this issue because compiled a class against a different version of the class that is missing a method, than the one you are using when running it –

Please check whether the other dependency has the compatibility with java 17 version before you change it
